Stockton Shane Bos was born on July 7th, 2010 at 2:30pm! I never went into labor on my own like I'd hoped--I guess Stockton was just too comfy in there and didn't realize how excited we all were to see him :)
Josh and I had to be at the hospital by 7:30am for the induction, and from there everything went so smooth and quick! My Dr. broke my water and I began having regular contractions almost instantly. I tried to tough them out as long as I could on my own, but the nurse wouldn't let me dilate further than a 5 if I was going to have an epidural. So...I toughed them out until I was a 5 :) And once again (just like my experience with having Annabelle) the epidural was probably my least favorite part (not having the epidural of course, just having it administered). I disliked getting it because a) it hurts. I know it shouldn't, but it did...BOTH times! b) The anesthesiologist put the catheter in my blood vessel, rather than the epidural space. When he inserted the test dose, my heart started racing, my eyes started twitching, my legs began shaking and my ears were ringing! Not fun! Luckily everything got inserted correctly the 2nd time, and it was only a matter of a couple hours before I delivered.
The delivery was a little exhausting because Stockton was posterior. The nurse had me pushing for 15 minutes, trying to turn him over before my Dr. arrived. She couldn't do it, but as soon as my Dr. got there, he had him turned over in just ONE push--THANK YOU! I kind of wanted to kiss him right then, but I knew he was busy getting the baby out :) I pushed for about 10 minutes before he was born. I definitely had a more difficult time pushing out 9 lbs than I did with 7! After I delivered, I just wanted to cry from all the pushing (which I felt more than I intended). Why do they make us push the button for more meds anyway? I'm not a pro; I really don't know how much I'll need when it gets down to crunch time. I try to hold off on meds as much as can, but this time I shorted myself a little and felt more than I would've liked. Oh well...on the bright side it was nice to not be totally numb when it was over, and to have at least some freedom in movement.
As soon as Stockton came out. my Dr. said "Big Baby!" When they weighed him in at 9lbs 1 oz, I was ecstatic--I wanted a big baby, and didn't really believe he could be small after how I'd been feeling the past month! It felt wonderful to take a deep breath :)
Stockton is AMAZING! He is gorgeous! He is BLONDE--how did that happen?! He's cuddly and sweet. He's such a blessing to our family and worth the long wait. Here are some pictures...
